Sam Through First Round of Wimbledon June 22, 2009 In his first round match on Monday, lucky loser Danai Udomchoke of Thailand replaced Ivan Ljubicic of Croatia as Sam's first opponent at the 2009 Wimbledon Championships that got underway today. In their previous meeting, Sam defeated Udomchoke in straight sets on grass in Newport, Rhode Island, and today continued his winning streak for his second, straight-set win over Udomchoke. Throughout the match, Sam did not lose his serve once with a total of 15 aces fired, but broke Udomchoke's serve three times for a final match score of 6-3, 6-4, 6-4. Up next, Sam will take on #7 seed in the Gentleman's Singles Marin Cilic of Croatia who he has never played before, and the two are scheduled to play later in the week on Wednesday. (BACK)
