Istomin Challenges Sam, Out of Eastbourne June 17, 2009 On Wednesday at the AEGON International in Eastbourne, Sam was put to the test and challenged by his third round opponent Denis Istomin of Uzbekahstan. Although Sam won the first set 6-3 with one break of serve, Istomin fought back in the second to win it in a tiebreaker 7-3 and even the match. In the third set, Sam was unable to hold-off Istomin and fell 6-4 in the deciding set for the match which ended his run in Eastbourne this year.
